Thank You for your interest in the International Capoeira Angola Foundation – Los Angeles Affiliate’s (ICAF-LA) Youth Program. Capoeira Angola is an African-Brazilian martial art whose traditions are passed down orally from teacher to student and whose practice fosters the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, creativity, cooperation, physical, mental, and spiritual health, and much more. Please read on to learn more about our program.

Youth Program Mission Statement

ICAF-LA is dedicated to:

  • Fostering the healthy development of young people. ICAF-LA believes in holistic health, as defined by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Constitution as a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being;
  • Instructing students in the traditions and history of Capoeira Angola in the context of a multi-generational community;
  • Connecting young people with consistent, positive role models necessary for positive growth and development;
  • Keeping Capoeira Angola accessible to ALL who wish to learn, particularly youth from disenfranchised and under-resourced communities.

Schedule:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays 7 -9 pm
  • Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm

    We do not presently have a class dedicated solely to youth. We are however, prepared to accomodate them and integrate them into class. If they are too young for participation with adults, they will be given their own private class.

Youth and Young Adult classes are offered free to everyone in high school or younger. Both movement and rhythm will be covered during class.
